Meeting Reminder

Youngstown Area Weaver’s will meet on Wednesday, April 14 at 10 am in the Colonial Inn on the Canfield Fairgrounds.

We will be assembling a cute woven tree with a cinnamon stick trunk. It will make a perfect package decoration or ornament. Bring the 3 Weavette squares from last month, scissors, extra yarn for sewing and a tapestry needle to fit the yarn. Sheila will provide the trunks.

The Boundweave workshop is May 10, 11, 12. We need a final count so please let Tracy know by the April meeting if you will attend. There is no charge for this workshop.

Coverlet squares will be exchanged next month…be ready!

Meeting October 14

The Youngstown Area Weavers will meet on Wednesday October 14, 10 am at the Colonial Inn on the Canfield Fairgrounds. As everyone knows, our group is small and the room is large, so there are no worries about distancing, bring your mask and a coffee cup. There will be coffee & tea available and some snacks.

We will be deciding on what the Guild will be doing for the next year for programs, workshops… so have some ideas ready to toss around. Also, bring show & tell – with all this at-home time, there ought be lots to show!

Don’t forget the upcoming Spinning  & Weaving Week! Check out all the great sales at HGA’s website – SWW Sales

YAWG Meeting Reminder

The next meeting is Wednesday October 9 at 10 am at the Colonial Inn on the Canfield Fairgrounds.

We will be going over plans for the November demo & sale so bring your calendar & ideas. We also need to decide what the spring workshop will be this coming May. And show & tell –  let’s see all that award winning weaving from the Fair!

YAWG Mini Workshop

May 6, 7 & 8 at 10 am at the Colonial Inn on the Canfield Fairgrounds

Liz will be teaching us how to do dip dye batik with a wax resist. It is a traditional color layering technique. We will be starting at 10 am each day and work until we feel like stopping. Bring a lunch or snack to share.

There will be a variety of sizes of silk scarves available to purchase, all very reasonably priced. You may bring your own fine silk fabric if you have it. All dyes and chemicals will be provided. Donations for the supplies and teacher would be appreciated.

Old clothes are recommended when working anywhere near dyes. Other materials to bring are:

  • artist frame or hoop to stretch the fabric
  • thin tacks or pins to hold silk to the frame
  • small paintbrushes
  • paper towels
  • newspapers

Meeting February 13…

At 10 am at The Colonial Inn on the Canfield Fairgrounds.

This meeting is all about sharing some of our favorite tools & toys of spinning & weaving. Bring a favorite tool, something unusual, something interesting, something you cannot work without, something you cannot figure out or anything fun regarding our craft. Be ready to share stories, show off toys and maybe find something new you must have too!

We have been locked up inside with all the cold weather – there should be lots of show and tell to look at too.

Remember to sign up and send a deposit for the Rosepath Sampler workshop taught by Susan Conover in May. Share with friends! Here is the registration form: YAWG 05-2019
