YAWG Meeting Reminder

The next meeting is Wednesday October 9 at 10 am at the Colonial Inn on the Canfield Fairgrounds.

We will be going over plans for the November demo & sale so bring your calendar & ideas. We also need to decide what the spring workshop will be this coming May. And show & tell –  let’s see all that award winning weaving from the Fair!

YAWG September Meeting

The picnic scheduled for September 11 has been cancelled. So everyone continue weaving – we have a show in November to prepare for! The October meeting will be a lot of prep for the show and a lot of show & tell from the Fair. Congratulations to everyone who entered, it was a nice display of different articles. Photos are in the Gallery.

August Reminders

Fair entries due by August 10!

Don’t forget to send your entries. We had a spectacular showing of weaving and spun yarn last year…let’s do more this year! New categories should make more entries possible.

East Ohio Handweavers

If you are interested in the basket weaving meeting to be held at Monica’s home on August 17th, she will need to know soon if you are attending and what basket you wish to weave. Here are pics of the fruit basket (L) or the Williamsburg basket (R).

September meeting will be the auction, so start collecting auction items.  To those that have never attended could be weaving supplies or just little odds and ends as residents and members both bid on items.  The funds we get help to support our guild and this way we don’t have yearly dues to pay.  We also will be serving more of a lunch to residents as well, so think as to what you might like to bring and sign up in August.

Youngstown Area Weavers

There is no August meeting. September is the annual picnic and beginning of the year meeting. It will be at Howland Park.

EOHG Meeting, Saturday April 20

The April meeting will be at Harmony Village in Columbiana at 10 am.

The program is hands-on band weaving on an inkle loom presented by Tracy Jackson. Bring a loom (if you need to borrow one, contact Tracy), flat shuttle or pick-up stick, scissors and any usual weaving tools. For threads, a pearl 3 or 5 or any yarn that is smooth and does not stretch. Tracy will be bringing instructions, material for heddles, books to look at, some finishing ideas and all other supplies. We should be able to sample a few techniques on the warp.

Meeting March 13

The upcoming meeting is on March 13, 2019 at 10 am in the Colonial Inn on the Canfield Fairgrounds.

Bring all the show & tell you have been weaving all winter.

Sheila will be showing how to do stick weaving – this one is on an actual branch, not the old strap technique. Bring large tapestry or yarn needle, scissors and odd bits of yarns, charms, shells, beads, fabric strips…Anything you like that can be woven into a freestyle 3-D piece of art. Sheila will have the base branches in a variety of sizes, warp thread and a bunch of yarns to play with.
