EOH Meeting

The next meeting of the East Ohio Handweavers will be Saturday June 17 at 9:30 am in the Leetonia Library. Sadly, life got in the way again of the warp painting and it is postponed to another time. Bring the tapestry projects and anything else you may need help with.

For those who can attend, there is a wonderful event coming to Kent in July – Threads of Connection: Exploring the Local to Global Textile Community. Information is available at:

YAWG Meeting

The next meeting of the Youngstown Weavers will be Wednesday May 3 at 10 am in the Colonial Inn on the Canfield Fairgrounds.

Our program will be twining a small pouch. There are little looms available for a small materials donation. Marilyn has linen rug warp or bring a strong cord for warp. Also if you have it bring rug yarn, knitting worsted or sport yarn and a scissors.

Refreshments will be provided by Sheila.

The after meeting special interest tapestry group will be continuing on with some design & patterning ideas. Bring your tapestry supplies & questions. This is a useful instruction free from the Schacht Spindle website. Print it out and follow along.

Tapestry Study Group

The tapestry study group will begin after the next YAWG meeting on April 5. This is an informal peer support group to work on tapestry techniques. This is not a regular part of the meetings. We will also meet after EOH meetings if the room is not reserved by another group.

Here is a list of supplies to gather up for the first meeting:

Standard Tapestry supplies:
Tapestry loom of any size or style
Tapestry fork or dinner fork
Blunt tip weaving / yarn needle
Cotton seine twine or navajo wool for warp
Any yarn for weft – wool, cotton, perles, embroidery floss, acrylics, sock yarn, novelty yarn (this is a stash-buster)
Shed stick, pick-up stick or popsicle stick for picking designs

Any tapestry books, scissors, paper & pencil

Will be showing different types of tapestry looms, tools and other supplies at April meetings. If you will need to purchase something, come look at the various styles first. If there are any questions, contact Sheila.

Loom & Equipment for sale

“My wife has been a weaver for over 47 years, but now has Parkinson’s Disease and no longer has the strength to use her loom, a Harrisville 8 harness. She is selling the loom, hand-made loom bench, many cones of warp, books, shuttles, and all the other many accessories that she has used over the years. She would like to sell them all together.”

This is all the available information – contact Tracy for seller’s contact info.
