YAWG Meeting Reminder

Youngstown Area Weavers will meet on Wednesday April 6 at 10 am in the Colonial Inn on the Canfield Fairgrounds. We will be diving into designer carding, blending colors for spinning or felting. Bring carders if you have them, colored wools will be available to try.

All library books are now listed on the website…be sure to check it out. The link listed is the best way to get there.

YAWG – New Date

The next meeting of YAWG will be on Wednesday January 5 at 11 am in the Colonial Inn on the Canfield fairgrounds.

We will be playing with spinning by adding interesting things to make novelty yarn  and have general social time. Bring whatever you would like to work on.

Mark your calendars…meetings will be on the first Wednesday of the month with the exception of Fair time in September.

August Reminders

Fair entries due by August 10!

Don’t forget to send your entries. We had a spectacular showing of weaving and spun yarn last year…let’s do more this year! New categories should make more entries possible.

East Ohio Handweavers

If you are interested in the basket weaving meeting to be held at Monica’s home on August 17th, she will need to know soon if you are attending and what basket you wish to weave. Here are pics of the fruit basket (L) or the Williamsburg basket (R).

September meeting will be the auction, so start collecting auction items.  To those that have never attended could be weaving supplies or just little odds and ends as residents and members both bid on items.  The funds we get help to support our guild and this way we don’t have yearly dues to pay.  We also will be serving more of a lunch to residents as well, so think as to what you might like to bring and sign up in August.

Youngstown Area Weavers

There is no August meeting. September is the annual picnic and beginning of the year meeting. It will be at Howland Park.

Regarding cotton…

I recently listened to the “Weave” podcast featuring Sally Fox, whose naturally colored organic cottons most of us are familiar with. Her story is absolutely riveting of why & how she developed her cottons, the trials and tribulations along the way and her hopes for the future of organic cotton. Give it a listen and then check out some of the earlier “Weave” podcasts too.
